Presentation Skills
|
|
Главная ошибка русскоговорящих учеников — начинать сразу с информации: “Our company has many problems…” или “This article says…”.

|
I will talk about marketing. There are many problems. |
Today I will talk about three marketing problems that affect small businesses and suggest practical solutions. |
|
This slide is about sales. |
This slide shows how sales changed after the new campaign. The key point is the sharp increase in online orders. |
|
That is all. |
To sum up, the main message is simple: better targeting, clearer offers and faster follow-up can improve results. |
Поэтому английская презентация должна постоянно показывать направление: where we are, where we are going, why this point matters.
Они работают как дорожные знаки: “First, I’ll explain…”, “Now let’s move on to…”, “This brings me to…”, “To conclude…”.

Самая надёжная структура для ученика B1–B2: opening → roadmap → main body → summary → Q&A.
|
|
Opening |
Today I’m going to talk about how online learning changes student motivation. |
|
Roadmap |
I’ll divide my talk into three parts: first, the problem; second, the causes; and finally, possible solutions. |

|
Не надо длинных извинений: “Sorry for my English”, “I’m not prepared”, “I will try to explain”.
|
|
Greeting |
Good morning everyone, and thank you for being here. |
|
Topic |
Today I’m going to talk about customer feedback. |
|
Relevance |
This topic is important because it affects customer loyalty. |
|
Roadmap |
I’ll divide my presentation into three parts. |
Good morning everyone, and thank you for joining this presentation. Today I’m going to talk about how small businesses can improve customer communication. This topic is important because poor communication often leads to lost sales and weaker trust. I’ll divide my presentation into three parts: first, I’ll explain the main problem; then I’ll look at common mistakes; and finally, I’ll suggest several practical solutions.
Слушатель сразу понимает: тема — customer communication, важность — lost sales and weaker trust, структура — problem, mistakes, solutions.
|
|
I’ll divide my presentation into three parts. |
|
First, I’ll explain the background. Then I’ll discuss the main challenges. Finally, I’ll offer some recommendations. |
|
I’ll focus on two main points. |
|
The presentation will cover the current situation, key risks and next steps. |
|
The talk is structured around three questions: what the issue is, why it matters and how it can be addressed. |
Лучше объединить: “I’ll focus on three main areas: background, analysis and recommendations.”
Main body:
|
|
Point |
The first problem is poor internal communication. |
|
Explanation |
When teams do not share information clearly, tasks are often delayed. |
|
Example/Data |
For example, in our survey, 42% of employees mentioned unclear instructions. |
|
Mini-conclusion |
This means that better communication could save both time and money. |
The first issue is poor time management. Many students know what they need to do, but they do not plan their work realistically. As a result, they start tasks too late and feel stressed before deadlines. For example, in online courses, students often underestimate how much time independent learning requires. This shows that flexibility is useful only when students also have clear routines.
Let’s start with the first point. |
|
Now let’s move on to the second issue. |
|
This brings me to the next point. |
|
Let me come back to the main question. |
|
The key point here is that… |
|
So, what does this mean in practice? |
|
This leads us to the final part of the presentation. |
Лучше говорить не о слайде, а о смысле: “Now let’s look at the main reason for this change” или “This chart helps explain why the trend is important.”
As you can see…”, “This slide shows…”, “The main thing to notice is…”.
|
|
This slide shows the main stages of the process. |
|
The main thing to notice is the difference between the two groups. |
|
The chart shows a steady increase over five years. |
|
This increase may be explained by stronger demand. |
|
This suggests that the strategy was effective. |
Here is a chart. It is about sales. Sales are higher.”
Сильный вариант: “This chart shows how sales changed after the new advertising campaign. The main thing to notice is the sharp increase in online orders, especially in the second month. This suggests that the campaign worked particularly well with younger customers.”
Поэтому в презентациях часто используются слова: slightly, significantly, gradually, sharply, approximately, it suggests, it may indicate.
|
|
increase, rise, grow, go up |
|
decrease, fall, drop, go down |
|
remain stable, stay the same, show little change |
|
increase sharply, drop significantly |
|
rise gradually, decline slowly |
|
This suggests that… / This may indicate that… |
As you can see, the number of active users increased gradually from January to March. However, the most significant growth happened in April, after the new feature was introduced. This may indicate that the feature made the product more attractive to regular users.
Formal but natural:
|
I want to say about… |
I’d like to talk about… |
|
This is very bad. |
This creates several challenges. |
|
People don’t like it. |
Many users are dissatisfied with this feature. |
|
It is good. |
It can be beneficial in several ways. |
|
We must do it. |
It would be useful to consider this option. |
|
I think it is true. |
The evidence suggests that this is likely to be true. |
Opinion, argument and recommendation
|
|
Fact |
The survey included 500 participants. |
|
Interpretation |
This suggests that price is not the only factor. |
|
Opinion |
In my view, the company should focus on customer support. |
|
Recommendation |
Therefore, I would recommend improving the onboarding process. |
The data shows that customer complaints increased by 18% in the last quarter. This suggests that the current support system is not working effectively. In my view, the company should invest in faster response times and clearer communication. Therefore, I would recommend creating a small support team for urgent cases.
|
|
I’d be happy to answer any questions. |
|
That’s a good question. Thank you. |
|
Let me think about that for a moment. |
|
Could you clarify what you mean by that? |
|
I can answer that from two perspectives. |
|
I don’t have the exact figure with me, but I can give you the general idea. |
|
I can look into that and follow up after the presentation. |
I don’t know.”
I don’t have the exact data with me, but based on the information we have, it seems that the main reason is customer demand.”
Не заканчивайте внезапно фразой “That’s all”. Лучше сделать summary, final message и invitation for questions.
|
|
To sum up, I’d like to highlight three key points. |
|
First, the problem is not only technical but also organisational. Second, communication needs to be clearer. Third, the solution should be practical and easy to apply. |
|
The main message is that small changes in communication can lead to much better results. |
|
Thank you for your attention. |
|
I’d be happy to answer any questions. |
To sum up, there are three main points to remember. First, customer communication directly affects trust. Second, many problems come from unclear messages rather than poor products. Third, simple changes, such as faster replies and clearer instructions, can make a significant difference. Thank you for your attention. I’d be happy to answer any questions.

Today I’m going to present an article about the impact of social media on young people. I’ll start with the main argument of the article, then I’ll discuss two supporting points, and finally I’ll give my own opinion. The author argues that social media is not automatically harmful, but its effect depends on how people use it. The key point is that passive use may increase stress, while active communication can be more positive.
Good afternoon everyone. Today I’d like to present our plan for improving customer retention. I’ll focus on three areas: the current problem, the main reasons behind it and the steps we can take next. The data shows that many customers leave after the first month. This suggests that our onboarding process is not clear enough. Therefore, I would recommend creating a simpler welcome sequence and adding follow-up messages during the first week.
Today I’m going to introduce our new learning platform. The aim of the project is to help students practise English regularly through short, structured exercises. First, I’ll explain the problem we are trying to solve. Then I’ll show the main features of the platform. Finally, I’ll explain why this approach can be useful for beginners. The main idea is simple: students need not only information, but also daily practice and clear progress.

|
Academic presentation |
The article argues that… / The evidence suggests… / This can be interpreted as… |
|
Business presentation |
The current situation is… / The main challenge is… / I would recommend… |
|
Project presentation |
The aim of the project is… / The next step is… / The expected outcome is… |
|
Pitch |
The problem we solve is… / Our solution is… / What makes it different is… |
|
Report presentation |
The report covers… / The key findings are… / Based on this, we suggest… |
|
Тип hook |
|
Question |
Have you ever wondered why some presentations are easy to follow while others are difficult to remember? |
|
Problem |
Many good ideas fail not because they are weak, but because they are presented poorly. |
Для persuasive presentation |
|
Contrast |
We often focus on what we say, but the real challenge is how clearly the audience understands it. |
|
Statistic |
According to our internal survey, almost half of customers stop using the service after the first week. |
|
Mini-story |
Last month, our team had a useful product, but the client did not understand its value until we changed the presentation. |
Для project/pitch |
После hook сразу нужно перейти к теме: “This is why today I’d like to talk about…”
|
|
The presentation will take about ten minutes. |
|
I’ll take questions at the end of the presentation. |
|
Please feel free to ask questions as we go along. |
|
I’ll start with a short overview and then move on to the main findings. |
|
I’ll share the slides after the session. |
|
Today I’ll focus mainly on the practical side of the issue. |
Пример: “The presentation will take about ten minutes. I’ll start with the background, then I’ll present the main findings, and finally I’ll suggest some next steps. I’ll be happy to take questions at the end.”
Slide text vs spoken text:
|
|
Problem: low customer retention |
The main problem we are facing is low customer retention. Many users try the service once but do not return the following month. |
|
Cause: unclear onboarding |
One possible reason is that the onboarding process is not clear enough. New users do not immediately understand what to do next. |
|
Solution: 3-step welcome flow |
A practical solution would be to create a simple three-step welcome flow, so users can see the value of the service faster. |
|
Result: +18% active users |
After this change, the number of active users increased by 18%, which suggests that the new flow helped users stay engaged. |
|
На B2 лучше использовать more precise linking: as a result, therefore, this leads to, this is mainly due to, one possible reason is.
|
|
This is mainly due to… / One possible reason is… |
One possible reason is the lack of clear instructions. |
|
As a result… / This leads to… / Consequently… |
As a result, users often leave before completing the first task. |
|
Therefore… / This suggests that… |
Therefore, the onboarding process needs to be simpler. |
|
However… / At the same time… |
However, price may also influence customer behaviour. |
Users leave because the site is difficult.”
Сильный вариант: “One possible reason why users leave is that the first steps are not clear enough. As a result, they do not experience the value of the product quickly. This suggests that the onboarding process should be redesigned.”
|
|
Problem |
The main problem is… |
The main problem is that students often practise irregularly. |
|
Cause |
This happens because… |
This happens because they do not have a clear daily system. |
|
Solution |
A practical solution would be to… |
A practical solution would be to create short daily tasks. |
|
Result |
This would help… |
This would help students build a habit and see progress faster. |
Готовый блок: “The main problem is that many learners start strongly but stop after a few days. This happens because they rely on motivation instead of a clear system. A practical solution would be to give them short daily tasks with visible progress. This would help them build consistency and feel that learning is manageable.”
|
Pace |
|
Pauses |
|
Emphasis |
|
Eye contact |
|
Body language |
Полезная техника: после фразы “The key point here is…” Например: “The key point here is… communication must be clear before the customer makes a decision.”
|
|
Let me come back to the main point. |
|
So, the key idea is this. |
|
Could you rephrase the question, please? |
|
I don’t have the exact figure with me, but the trend is clear. |
|
I’ll explain the main idea while the slide is loading. |

Для онлайн-выступления особенно полезны короткие фразы: “The key point here is…”, “Let me highlight one thing…”, “What this means is…”.

How short daily practice can improve English learning
Good morning everyone, and thank you for joining this presentation. Today I’m going to talk about how short daily practice can improve English learning. This topic is important because many learners do not fail because English is impossible; they fail because they do not have a clear system. I’ll divide my presentation into three parts: first, I’ll explain the main problem; then I’ll look at why daily practice works; and finally, I’ll suggest a practical learning structure.
Let’s start with the main problem. Many students study English irregularly. They may practise a lot for two or three days and then stop for a week. As a result, they forget new words, lose confidence and feel that they are starting again all the time. The key point here is that motivation alone is not enough.
Now let’s move on to the second point: why short daily practice can be more effective. When students practise every day, even for a short time, English becomes part of their routine. This helps them remember vocabulary, understand sentence patterns and feel progress. For example, ten focused sentences every day can be more useful than one long lesson once a week if the student repeats and uses the language actively.
This brings me to the final part: a practical structure. In my view, learners need a simple system: a small number of words or sentences, clear translation, audio, repetition and visible progress. This would help them build consistency instead of depending on mood or motivation.
To sum up, I’d like to highlight three key points. First, irregular learning makes progress slower. Second, short daily practice helps students build a habit. Third, a clear system can make learning feel easier and more realistic. The main message is that progress in English comes not from one perfect lesson, but from regular practice. Thank you for your attention. I’d be happy to answer any questions.

Он понимает маршрут: opening → roadmap → main body → data/example → conclusion → Q&A.
